Came across this pretty interesting video of what Microsoft’s vision of the future would be – with it’s technology of course. Take a gander at the below video. Among some of the coolest tidbits are 3D Manipulation of a holographic image, see-through refrigerators, and glasses that work like the babel fish in Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
UPDATE:
So Samsung and Google just announced the Galaxy Nexus and below are my thoughts on the device which will ship with Android 4.0 or “Iced Cream Sandwich” if you will. Let me be the first to say that I liked the code name “Nexus Prime” much better than Galaxy Nexus. I suppose Samsung had to get some branding recognition since Google seems to be using them as the handset maker of choice for their pur-bread Android experience.
That said, there are a few things that I’m excited about:
Camera Improvements
Not only can you zoom while taking video, but you can snap a pic while taking video as well
You can unlock straight to the Camera
You can take Panoramic shots
Instant shot meaning no shutter lag
Face Recognition Unlock
Phone will unlock only if it recognizes its owner…sometimes
HD Super AMOLED
4.65 inch super bright screen. Definitely want to check that baby out.
Photo Editing
All the standard stuff you find in the app store like cropping, color, angle change, red-eye reduction, etc
People App.
Connects all your information on a single contact. You can manipulate which address or number you text or email by modifying your contact’s “people card”
Android Beam
Transmit data wireless via NFC which means you can exchange personal info, websites, Youtube videos etc by tapping phones together.
I gotta say that I’m intrigued and will probably get this phone, however, I still don’t feel that “magical” felling yet. All of the new features are amazing, yet, I still feel somewhat underwhelmed for some reason. I don’t feel like anything ground-breaking has happened. I just feel like Android is being continually polished and this is a step in the right direction. What are your thoughts?
There are a few good games coming up and I’ve done all the “hard work” of listing what I think are the most exciting and listed them below. Assassins Creed is looking great as ever, and Street Fighter x Tekken looks to shake things up with their newly tweaked fighting system. Mass Effect 3 has some surprises in the works while Batman Arkham City looks to raise the bar even higher for superhero games. Modern Warfare, arguably one of the best shooters of all time looks to make that case with its new installment. Which one are you looking forward to?
We’ve been anxiously waiting for the new 2K12 Game to come out and now we can get a little fore-taste if you head over to XBox Live. We just got word that the demo is now available.
The 2K team is hoping to repeat its success from last year’s title with more iconic playable characters like Magic Johnson and Larry Bird in addition to Michael Jordan. The demo centers around last year’s final between the Miami Heat and the Dallas Mavericks.
Got a chance to play with with the Samsung Infuse for ATT. Off the bat I was smitten with the beauty of the phone. I think I like where Samsung is going with their design direction. The phone is slim and sleek with a 4.5 inch screen. Read on for my impressions of the device.

Form Factor
this phone is definitely not the biggest phone, but it is still up there among the big boys at 4.5″. At first glance it looks like only the manliest of men will be handling this phone. However, when you pick it up, its not heavy at all and its very thin. This gives the feeling that the phone is manageable for those of us with smaller hands. A few of my female coworkers remarked how well it fit in the hand.
The back cover of the device is still plastic, however, its sort of recessed in the back taking up very little space. The rest of the phone is solid. The speaker worked better than I thought which I attribute to the thin plastic back cover.
Battery Life
I played around with the phone for two days straight which, sorry to say, is unheard of for many Android devices. I kept gps, auto-sync, and wifi on. The brightness was about medium. I didn’t do a huge amount of calling but did do a bit of internet surfing and it performed well.
4G Goodness
Pulling up websites was pretty snappy with AT&T’s network. I had no major issues with it in NYC and found it to add positively to my experience with the phone. Videos came up quickly and was even able to video chat without wifi using Tango and Qik though it was a little choppy at times.
Dislikes:
OS
I am an Android fan, but Google updates so frequently that new phones feel obsolete in mere months. This phone is based on Android 2.2 (Froyo) which is already behind Android 2.3 (gingerbread). Since Samsung skinned it with their touch flo UI, Infuse users may have to wait a bit until the phone OS is upgraded. This can be a pain when you have a lot of power under the hood but have to wait a bit for the latest and greatest.
Screen Resolution
The 4.5 inch AMOLED screen is quite beautiful to behold. It’s super bright and makes all the icons and videos come to life. However, when comparing to other phones with smaller screen resolutions like my G2 the Infuse’s images look slightly blurred. The resolution is 800×480, which is pretty good but for some reason I felt like something was missing while watching video clips.
Summary:
Overall, I really liked using the phone. I was most impressed by the phones sexy curves and slim physique. Was a little let down that it was running on Froyo rather than gingerbread, but there really isn’t a huge difference functionality-wise. I just have to have what the Jones’ have! With an 8 MP camera with LED Flash and front facing 1.3 MP camera as well as 4.5″ inch AMOLED screen and a 1.2 GHz processor under the hood – you really can’t go wrong.
I’ve been hearing something like this for a little while, but a friend passed it along and I had to check it out. It’s a $50 Helicopter called the HELO TC, made by Griffin, that is controlled by your iPhone. It looks super cool – I’m thinking of picking it up just to play around in the office and to reinforce that I am cooler than other people. Check the article at boinboing

Good News everyone! I’ve got new cover art for the new 2K12 Video Game. You can catch our review of NBA 2K11 here. We expect good things with this game so we hope 2K Sports doesn’t disappoint. In 2K12, it looked like the graphics were great, but suffered a little bit to add in all the great new features. The game was definitely very deep and they put a lot of time and effort into making it as real as possible. Hopefully 2K12 fixes a few of the minor issues and spruces up the graphics a bit.
Looks like Jordan will be joined by two other legends, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. These two icons are getting their own covers as well. The Cover Art was done by Adam Larson of Adam&Co. The release date is set for October 4th and will be available for “the PlayStation 3, PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360, Wii™ system, PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system and Windows PC.” Feast your eyes on the below images and let us know what you think.
I was invited out to Sony’s Holiday Season sneak peak and among the items being shown was their all new PS Vita. Unfortunately, I was unable to take video of the unit head on, but we spoke with a bunch of Reps concerning new titles for the PS Vita so check out the vids below as we update them.
I did get to check out a few titles first hand and most importantly, to hold and feel and caress the device. Here are my thoughts.
Hardware:
From a Hardware perspective, the device takes you back to the moment you first laid eyes on the original PSP. It’s slick and visually appealing. It looks better in person than you thought, and has sexy curves. I was surprised by how big it was. That 5 inch screen is totally satisfying and quite beautiful, though I did squint a bit in light even though there wasn’t much of it around as I was in a room with all the windows shuttered. The unit was much thicker than I was expecting, however, it was thin for it’s size if that makes sense. The front and rear facing cameras where there and they were a welcome addition. The rest was standard stuff that you know already – dual analog sticks, 3.5 mm headphone jack, L/R Bumpers, two speakers, etc. I did note two ports on the top of the device. One seemed to be for an SD card, however, I couldn’t make the other one. Seemed to be proprietary. I suspect it will be how Sony plans on selling physical copies of their titles, but we’ll see.
Titles:
ModNation Racers: This game is shaping up to be a pretty fun title. It’s a racing game at heart, but it gives you the ability to create maps on the fly. Using the touch screen capabilities, this is a lot easier than fumbling around with an analog stick and cursor! An added bonus is Vita owners will be able to play PS3 Maps.
Ruin: If you like dungeons and Dragon type games then this title will definitely tickle your fancy. Pulling a page from Microsoft, the game designers allow for seamless play between consoles meaning you can pause and start exactly where you left off between the Vita and the PS3.
WipeOut: This classic title gets the Vita treatment and it looks great. The game designers used the accelerometer to allow for motion control and the touch screen for different uses such as attacking or charging. They also utilized the Vita’s camera for online game-play.
Hot Shots Golf: One word – “Fun”. We took a look at this title and its looking quite good. Your still playing golf so things haven’t changed that much, however, they have also made changes to take advantage of the Vita’s feature set. You can use the touch screen now to position your player when teeing off as well as some motion control.
Reality Fighters: Really interesting title that doesn’t take itself too seriously. The real kicker is the level of customization you have over your character. You can take a picture of yourself using either of the two cameras and create your character based on your likeness. You can change your appearance to super muscular or super…unmuscular. You can choose different weapons, clothes, facial expressions, and even fighting styles. They haven’t sacrificed too much on gameplay either as the fighting techniques look very polished. You can even play in an augmented reality setting.
One last gem was for the PS3, but definitely worth mentioning. The game was called “Journey“. You play a floaty thingy and you meet up with another floaty thingies to get to the top of a mountain. Sounds bumish, but it’s really quite fascinating. The game is really very visually pleasing. You can go it alone or you can team up with someone and take the journey together, but the clincher is you never know who that person actually is. No gamer tags, no chat, no nothing. Just you and that other person on a journey together. And at any point that person can simply walk away.
Wrap-up
This coming Holiday Season is warming up with all these fresh titles in the pipeline. I’ll be in line for my Vita when it launches. The specs are solid and if they can keep innovative games coming, it will easily be the king of portable game consoles. It ALMOST has me wishing it was already the Holiday Season…Almost. I’ll still take as many days of summer as I can get!
Upset about Miami Losing this year? Tough, suck it up. Looks like that will be the main theme for 2K Sports’ next Basketball game. From what their telling us, this is the first public image of the new game and it looks absolutely stunning. Look below…which is the real one??? You can read our review of NBA 2K11 here, however, NBA 2K12 seems to be upping the anti yet again in terms of graphics. Follow us on twitter @themanlyman for more information as we get it!
